Consular Spouses were invited by the Shanghai Women Federation, on one of the lasts days of the year, to visit the magnificent musical War Horse.
The world famous play was translated in a Mandarin version and made its debut in the Shanghai Square Theatre from November 2015 to January 2016. As many before them, the CSS were very impressed by the 3-meter-long, 2.4-meter-tall puppet horse, which looked so real it became alive in front of their eyes.
For this Chinese version, the National Theatre Company of China and a British production team spent a year and a half selecting 20 puppet actors out of 1,500 applicants. The chosen actors underwent a year of training, which included learning to live with real horses. All this effort showed in the result of this 2,5 hours captivating show.
