Christmas coffee morning – 9 December 2015

909Nicolette Beltrame, spouse of the Italian Consul General, kindly opened up her beautiful villa to CSS members for a Christmas coffee morning. We enjoyed the delicious festive treats and traditional decorations and a chance to exchange holiday plans and seasons greetings with fellow members, as 2015 came to a close.

Christmas is a time for giving it was for us to start thinking of the causes that we may wish to support in 2016. We were joined by Christine Wang of The Library Project who told us of the great work that they are doing to support literacy for children from rural communities across China, Cambodia and Vietnam. The Library Project provides books, libraries and teacher training for schools that would not usually have this facility. Christine explained how the team meet the head teachers, staff and students to identify the needs of the individual schools. They arrange the ordering, distribution of books and construction of the library to fit the school.
CSS are strong believers in supporting educational needs to help students grow into capable adults. This is a charity that we would like to look at supporting in 2016 and our own President, Busi Thage, is an Ambassador for The Library Project. For more information
